Male sterilization is a once-and-for-all method of contraception, but many men worry that the surgery will affect their sexual life. A new study published in the International Journal of Sexual Medicine stated that a husband's sterilization not only has no effect on himself, but can enhance his wife's sexual interest and improve the quality of the couple's sexual life.

Researchers in the United States and the United Kingdom conducted a follow-up survey on a group of couples with an average age of 38, two children, and at least 12 years of marriage. The new study used questionnaires to assess couples' sexual frequency, sexual desire, arousal and overall sexual satisfaction before and after the man underwent vasectomy. Previously, the most common contraceptive method used by participating couples was oral contraceptive pills, followed by condoms and female condoms. Comparison of the data before and after sterilization showed that after the man's sterilization, the woman's sexual desire, sexual arousal and overall satisfaction with sex were significantly improved. Researchers analyzed that the main reason is that after getting rid of the fear of unexpected pregnancy, women are less stressed, can engage in sexual activities more easily, and enjoy sex more.

It is estimated that as many as 100 million men have undergone sterilization surgery worldwide, with a success rate of over 99% and minor complications rarely occurring. (gold)
